Viareggio and Genoa, two captivating cities in Italy, each offer a distinct charm that captivates visitors. Meet Filippo
He graduated from Nottingham Trent University (UK) in International Business (2002). Later, he earned a master’s degree in yacht management from the University of Pisa’s engineering department (2013). His career began in 2002, participating in a joint venture of Italian, Dutch, French, and Monegasque entrepreneurs that led him to Dutch shipyards in interior contract (concluded in 2005). He worked for Vismara Marine (Baltic Yacht broker in the Mediterranean), where he facilitated EU funds for the green development of the V-50 Hybrid project (2010/2012). As the Head of International Relations and Marketing, he contributed to the Viareggio Yacht Refit’s Yare event, later becoming the Marketing and Communication Director of Rossinavi Shipyard until early 2021. During this period, he shared the stage at the ISS Design & Awards Gala, winning a trophy with M/Y Endeavour in 2018. Presently, he works as a consultant and collaborates with a leading U.S. organization combating ocean plastic pollution. Additionally, he lectures on marketing and communication strategies in yachting at the Milan Politecnico, the International University de Monaco, and the ISYL Foundation in Viareggio. In the summer of 2023, he became the first TEDx speaker on boating and sustainability, presenting the positive impact of the aerospace industry’s influence on the boating industry through the America’s Cup. He is also a former member of YPY of Monaco.

These two cities with different histories are actually two of the most productive places in the Mediterranean for new construction and refits. The area offers the entire supply chain for boat building in any material (from composite to steel) and the historical and traditional cultural heritage of this industry.

The city’s intricate network of canals, waterways, and the Intracoastal Waterway has earned it the nickname “Venice of America.” Yachts can navigate through these picturesque waterways, providing a scenic and convenient way to explore the city and access various points of interest, including waterfront dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Yachting Events
The Genoa International Boat Show is a meeting place for the international yachting market and marine enthusiasts. The Yare Networking event is the most popular recreational boating refit event in all of Europe (and beyond). Viareggio also typically hosts Yacht Dinner Night, where yacht builders compete in the kitchen of the most famous restaurants judged by famous design firms and the international press.
