Marisa has served on the ISS Board since February 2018. Marisa Benoit grew up sailing along the coast of Downeast Maine, racing and spending summers teaching sailing at local yacht clubs. Marisa attended Yale University, where she majored in history and was a member of the Yale Varsity Sailing Team.
After graduating from Yale in 2005, Marisa worked as an analyst and consultant for a healthcare company in Boston before pursuing her Master’s degree in the History of Science, Medicine and Technology at Oxford. Marisa was first introduced to the yachting industry in 2008 when she worked as a second stewardess and joined M/Y HARLE in 2009. Her time on Harle left a lasting impact, and she became part of the extended family that evolved into Fleet Miami.
Marisa left HARLE in 2010 to return to Oxford to complete her PhD in the History of Medicine. While at Oxford, she enjoyed teaching undergraduates History and the History of Medicine and was a Graduate Ambassador for the Oxford Alumni Society. She has been an active participant within academic mentorship programs and would like to bring similar lifelong learning models to the yachting world.
Marisa currently manages Sales and Marketing for Fleet Miami. She has participated in all aspects of its operations, including co-founding Yacht U, a leadership training program with the goal of raising the standard for best practices in yachting culture and crew performance.
Marisa is passionate about education and has helped to organize successful ISS Yacht Info seminars at the Monaco and Fort Lauderdale Boat Shows. At the suggestion of several ISS board members, she would like to submit her name for consideration as a member of the ISS Board of Directors and continue the mission to educate and inspire yachting professionals.
