John Venables has been devoted to the advancement of the marine industry for over 40 years, in both senior engineering and executive roles, and has been a supporter of the ISS since its inception. The last 17 years John has been engaged as CEO & owner of NAIAD MARITIME GROUP, INC., a US multinational corporation and parent of the NAIAD DYNAMICS® companies with operations in Connecticut, Maryland, and Florida USA; Southampton UK; La Ciotat France; Maastricht Netherlands; and Perth Australia. From 1991 to 2009, John oversaw a division of marine technology businesses of public shipbuilder VT Group plc and served as COO and a founding executive of VT Motion Control Group- an international collection of leading companies specializing in stabilization & multi-axis ride control for all hull forms. John’s companies have supplied stabilization systems to over 14,000 ships—in addition to yachts these also include most of the world’s fast ferries and navies. John holds several degrees in Engineering & Business (magna or summa cum laude), including a Master of Science, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York. He has served on a number of Boards, including VT US Inc ($500M+), and aside from the non-profit ISS, he currently serves as Director of 6 corporations and 2 LLCs. John has been a speaker at various European and US design, yacht, and naval conferences, and his personal professional affiliations include the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SNAME), American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE), International Hydrofoil Society (IHS), and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). John continues to volunteer his time and be a strong advocate for the global yacht industry.
