Jan Reiners is a German Boat builder, founder and owner of the company multiplex GmbH.
After training as a boat builder at his parents‘ shipyard, Bootswerft Reiners, Jan Reiners was part of the crew that won the Admiral’s Cup in 1983. In 1984 he won the ¾-tonne Cup and again the Admiral’s Cup in 1985 on the „Outsider“.
It was in 1983 that he first heard of carbon fibre. Jan Reiners began to experiment with carbon as a material at that time and made a carbon fibre rudder blade for „Outsider“. Three years later in 1986 the company multiplex was founded. The lightweight construction and the strength of the products quickly convinced the scene. Multiplex was supplying almost only pure custom solutions for the super yacht segment. Today, 80 of the 100 largest mega yachts have multiplex products on board; 20 designers and carbon specialists from eight nations now take care of the demanding clientele.
