Jacob Ruytenbeek is the Founder and CEO of SailPlan, the leading AI-native maritime intelligence platform that fuses real-time data and advanced analytics to empower smarter, more efficient operations for ships and fleets worldwide. He’s also the founder of Boatwork, the leading marketplace for yachts to find the services and support they need.
With over a decade of experience commercializing emerging technologies across space, aviation, and maritime domains, Jacob brings deep expertise in ocean innovation. His passion for the ocean began in the early 2000s, building and electrifying small craft alongside his father, a marine electrician, in South Florida. As an avid freediver, he witnessed firsthand the devastating impacts of plastic pollution, coral bleaching, and declining fish populations—fueling his commitment to advancing a more sustainable and intelligent marine industry.
Through Boatwork and SailPlan, Jacob is commercializing maritime AI to tackle the industry’s toughest challenges, including decarbonization, predictive maintenance, and autonomous enablement. In 2023 Jacob also established Founding Blue, an organization fostering networking, mentorship, and investment for blue-economy startups across South Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean. In his spare time, he coaches entrepreneurs through the Levan Center for Innovation at Nova Southeastern University.
