I am the Projects and Relationships Manager at the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN), an international NGO working to improve the lives of seafarers and their families worldwide. Our helpline service for yacht crew, YachtCrewHelp, provides 24/7/365, free, confidential, multilingual support and guidance to crew worldwide on a range of issues – from contractual concerns such as non-payment of wages, to psychological health issues such as isolation, loneliness, and suicidal thoughts. As PRM I am responsible for using the insights and data we gather from the YachtCrewHelp helpline to develop projects which address the key issues crew tell us they are facing. It is a priority that these projects are developed collaboratively with key stakeholders from across the superyacht industry to ensure maximum support, dissemination and success.
