I am currently the Master of Motor Yacht Magnum Ride, a Jamaican-flagged 102’ Hatteras. We spend summers in the New England area and winters in the Bahamas. Prior to taking over Magnum Ride full-time my wife who is also a French-trained Chef, and I were mostly freelance running vessels for charters and private owners from Miami to Newport, RI.
My style of yachting is “old-school” meaning that I am a firm believer in keeping it classy in every aspect of the experience. Owners and guests should feel that when they are onboard, it is their home away from home, and that the crew is there to provide an amazing experience while looking and conducting themselves in a manner consistent with yachting traditions. I believe that a crew should not be made of up people who are primarily looking to make as much money as we can (which is a good goal) but be consummate maritime professionals that earn the highest gratuities possible through providing the best experience possible. From uniforms to the day to day operations of the yacht I demand the best from not only my crew but from myself. I believe in accountability from the most junior crew member all the way up to the Captain.
I am a veteran of the US Navy and hold an Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Leadership. My career goals are to end up running yachts in the Mediterranean in the summer and US in the winter. I love what I do, and I hire crew that loves what they do. When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.
