The Richard Earp Award 2020
at 17:00 on 6th May 2020
in the hospitality area of The Superyacht Show,
Marina Port Vell, Barcelona
Founded in 2016 as a tribute to Richard Earp's unfailingly gentlemanly conduct and integrity in dealing with clients, nominees are judged on transparency, fair and ethical behavior, charisma and style. The award criteria stipulates that nominees should be respected within the industry and have a well-established, active career as a broker. Nominations should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and accompanied by a supporting paragraph by Friday, April 19. Brokers cannot nominate themselves.
Vassilis Fotilas, broker at Fraser, was announced as the winner of the 2019 award. Upon winning, Fotilas said, “It doesn’t happen very often but I’m speechless and humbled - thank you very much.” Peter Insull was awarded the 2018 winner, in recognition of his contribution to the superyacht industry through his crew agency and as a yacht broker showing ethical behavior over the years. The first Richard Earp Award was given to Alex Lees-Buckley, sales broker at Camper and Nicholsons International. “I am very touched on a personal level to be the recipient of the very first Richard Earp Award which I shall cherish always. I think it's a great initiative and highly appropriate that it should carry Richard's name. He was a wonderful man and a tremendous ambassador to our profession and served as a fine example to all who had the pleasure of dealing with him as to how best one should conduct oneself and one’s business in a challenging and competitive industry. It was a privilege to have known him and my only regret is not to have spent more time with him. A great loss to all, he will not be forgotten and through this award I am confident that his name will live on in yachting for a very long time as the reference as to how we should all strive to be.”
The award is being presented with the generous support and cooperation of the ISS.
